    Gingerbread Latte

    by Nisha

Gingerbread Latte - Holiday Latte of Starbucks. Yeah its holiday time when you see these on the Starbucks menu. This latte is a mix of hot steamed milk and ginger syrup and an espresso. But you can also make this with a normal coffee. You can create this wonderful drink at home to celebrate the holidays. A hot cuppa on a cold day. 🙂 🙂 Comfortably settling in a couch by the window with a good book in one hand and a hot latte on the other. What more to ask ? Enjoy!!!
    GINGERBREAD LATTE

    Serves : 1 (8 Oz) Prep Time: 35 Mins
    Ingredients

    • 1 tablespoon instant coffee powder (1)
    • 1 tablespoon water
    • ¼ cup gingerbread syrup, recipe follows
    • ½ tablespoon sugar or acc to your taste
    • Whipped cream, optional
    • pinch of nutmeg, optional
    Gingerbread Syrup
    • 1 cup water
    • 2" piece fresh ginger root
    • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 4 tablespoon brown sugar (1)

    PreparationGingerbread syrup

    • Bring to a boil all the ingredients under gingerbread syrup in a saucepan.
    • Simmer it for around 15-20 minutes and turn off. Allow it to cool.
    • Strain the syrup and you can store it in a bottle for further use.
    Gingerbread Latte
    • Steam the milk in your coffee maker or bring to boil on a stove top and whisk it very fast until it froths well.
    • Add a tablespoon of coffee powder and sugar and a tablespoon of water in a tea cup and mix it well using a spoon. Keep whisking it until it becomes thick and creamy and pale in color.** You can check out Indian espresso recipe from Sharmi's passion.
    • Then add the syrup and and the milk and serve. Top it with whipped cream and a pinch of nutmeg.

    Note

    1. An espresso is used for making gingerbread latte in many of the recipes. But a normal strongly brewed coffee is also good.
    2. The gingerbread syrup is made with ginger and molasses or honey. Since I did not have any of them I substituted it for brown sugar.
    3. Gingerbread syrup is available in many supermarkets. You can use them too.
