A very usual combination for idly/dosa is sambhar or chutney or Milagai Podi (Gun Powder). The chutney are usually made with coconut or Onion and tomato. But this Andhra bowl is quite unique and different from the regular chutneys we make. The instant sourness followed by the stinging heat from the chilli is sure to liven up any drab meal as well as your taste beds. Don't you worry, you can always cut down the heat if you are intolerant. But if you can do not skip the chillies. We like them super hot.
This can also be made as thogayal and have it with steaming hot rice. Add roasted channa dal, urad dahl and red chilli (instead of green chilli) while grinding. Since this chutney is sour, have it with uthappam or masala dosa or any other dosa variety or milagai podi idly. This will give a balanced taste.
